Most prasiolite or green amethyst is produced by heating natural amethyst in a laboratory oven to about 500 degrees Celsius. This heating changes the amethyst's colour from purple to green or yellowish green.
Amethyst is naturally a violet variety of quartz. The name comes from the Koine Greek amethystos.
The beads on this 17cm strand vary in size from 12x7mm to 21x10mm.
